Waste Water: A Saviour of Crops

Reeling under severe shortage of irrigation water, farmers are purchasing waste water from mineral water bottling plants or any other plant which does not contain any harmful chemicals. Waste water which can be useful for crops may be from animal husbandry sector, several food processing plants etc.

This activity of borrowing water may not only be cheaper for farmers or crop growers but also a way for the factory or plant owners to get rid from the waste water. Government policies for safe and clean environment are getting stricter. They have to either recycle and reuse their water  or release after treating them well which should not be harmful for the surrounding people as well as atmosphere.

However, farmers can not get the enough water for irrigation but the amount they are getting like this, may atleast save their crops. This is also not an ultimate way to cure the condition for both the parties if the factory or plant generates less amount of usable water and the crop is vast and vice versa. Though this strategy may be contracted with small farmers who may get the enough water for their crops and they don’t have to make extra efforts to get water from other sources. At the same time, if a proper irrigation method has been chosen then the amount of water can be calculated as well.

Even at household level, it reminds the way to use kitchen and bathroom waste water in kitchen garden or garden around a house. This plan can be enlarged accordingly, like the size of plant/factory and size of the field or crop grown area.
