Be Eco-Beautiful !!!!!

All over the world are making efforts ensuring we combat climate change and keep the earth safe and clean for future generations. Many beauty companies contribute a portion of sales to amazing organizations, and some offer special products or limited edition promotions. All of this is great, but there are many green beauty brands that are doing so much more than donating money to worthy eco-causes. These brands are on the ground, making changes and effecting policy, working conditions, environmental concerns, and generally making the world a much, much better place. Below are several of them:

  1. Tarte – water – based formula with “Skinvigorating” ingredients like a T5 Super Fruit Complex (goji, acai, maracuja, acerola, and pomegranate) and mineral-derived pigments. (No parabens, sulfates, phthalates, or petrochemicals.)
  2. Down to Earth Kit – The kit includes full-size products including lip tint, mascara, blue, and liquid eyeliner — all in an eco-chic quilted bag. It, in collaboration with Tarte, donates 20% of the proceeds to WinetoWater.org, which provides clean drinking water to countries all over the world.
  3. Innisfree Orchid – A big proponent of recycling and protecting the environment through Empty Bottle Recycling Campaign (since 2003).
  4. Cargo’s PlantLove – This collection is made with 100% natural and organic ingredients — no parabens, phthalates, petrochemicals, synthetic chemicals, etc. Even their packaging is made entirely out of corn!
  5. Korres – only uses biodegradable ingredients (which means no mineral oils or silicones), recyclable packaging, and eco-friendly manufacturing practices (such as using a steam generator to heat their facility, rather than electrical heating).
  6. Aveda – has a “green ingredient promise,” which means they only use naturally derived ingredients, with 90% of their ingredients certified organic. They also use Post Consumer recycled packaging, as well as 100% wind power in their manufacturing.
  7. Jurlique – use a blend of herbs and flowers in all of their formulas. In fact, many of their botanicals are hand-grown on their 153-acre farm in South Australia.
  8. Burt’s Bees – is committed to natural materials — from their 99% natural formulas (about half of their line is 100% natural), their Post Consumer Recycled (PCR) packaging, and their commitment to preserving animal and human rights with free-trade and fair working conditions. Burt’s Bees biggest goal is to be “the greenest personal care company on earth,” which they’re hoping to achieve by 2020 with a variety of initiatives — including becoming a carbon-free company that operates on 100% renewable energy. They want no waste in landfills, and they want their manufacturing facilities to be LEED certified.
  9. Clark’s Botanicals – is all about natural healing and natural solutions. This botanical-based skincare line all feature Jasmine Absolute — an essential oil that naturally rebalances skin with its antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, immuno-stimulating properties.
  10. Yes to Carrots – This is a fantastic skincare line that’s packed with organic fruits and veggies with no parabens, petroleum, SLS, and phthalates. They have four different lines: carrots to “nourish”, cucumbers to “soothe,” tomatoes to “clear,” and blueberries for “age refresh.”

Plus their products are as effective as they are healthy.
  13. Supermodel Josie Maran launched her own cosmetics line with a strong eco-focus. All of her products are packed with botanical ingredients and packaged in recyclable and biodegradable materials. Josie Maran infuses every product with Argan Oil — a fruit-derived oil that’s packed with antioxidants, vitamin E, carotene, phenols, essential fatty acids, phenolic acid, and squalene, which moisturizes (while balancing oily patches), reduces fine lines and wrinkles, repairs sun damage, and reduces redness.
  14. L’Occitane – has several eco-friendly products, but their most popular has to be their Certified Organic Pure Shea Butter, which functions as a multi-purpose beauty balm. Besides containing 100% natural certified organic Shea Butter, it’s produced in a fair-trade agreement with cooperatives of women in West Africa.
  15. Nude skincare – line isn’t cheap, but it’s made without any harmful chemicals like parabens, sulphates, GMOs, PEGs, phthalates, and the list goes on. They also avoid non-biodegradable mineral oils and silicones, as well as source as many organic and fair-trade ingredients as possible.
