Clean Air: Basic Human Right

Government is making efforts on it’s level. There is a law which regulates the air emissions from various sources. This law is known as CAA, i.e., The Clean Air Act. It authorized EPA to establish National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) to protect public health and public welfare and to regulate emissions of hazardous air pollutants from stationary and mobile sources. Long term strategies need to be implemented.

Swachh Bharat Campaign like campaigns could incorporate in Government projects. Funds could be alloted as well. But where, Government provides fund , people become greedy and use that fund in other things where they need. Priorities change.

The laws and regulations are there, but they should be strict enough in following. If regulations break, there should be heavy fine/penalty. The punitive measures keep the population in control, the way they use and discard the resources.

We people should increase the renewable purchase in obligation. This will help in growing renewable energy sector, further will phase out dependence on coal and other pollution creating materials. We need to prioritize clean air as our basic human right. Our money should not emphasize buying imported big electronic purchases, but should be used to improve vehicle emission standards, on subsidized effective crop burning and alternatives to fuel wood.

If we want the air we breath, as basic human right, we own should take step forward to make it clean. Do for your own, our family and our own upcoming generations. So, let’s start, come forward. Give your contributions to the environment, to the society. Don’t wait for others. Let others follow you.
