Soot reaching Mom’s Placenta

Evidence that air pollution passes from pregnant women’s lungs to the placenta has been found in the recent study held at UK. Researchers detected what they believe are tiny particles of carbon. When pregnant women breathe polluted air, sooty particles are able to reach the placenta via the blood stream. It may lead to premature births, low birth weight, infant mortality and childhood respiratory problems.

Particles do not need to get into the baby’s body to have an adverse effect, because if they have an effect on the placenta, it will definitely and directly impact the foetus.

Countries like India, where pollution is alarmingly increasing should become aware as well as cautious. As the population growth rate is also getting into the dangerous situation, we all public and government should have to take strict steps to avoid this condition for our own future generation.
