Trash to Trends: A way towards Sustainability

Sustainable fashion is also called, eco-fashion. To prevent material wastage and to protect environment it is important to make use of under utilised materials by developing diversified products for economic again. Any fabric can be reused even reasonable portion of old and worn out fabrics can be cut-out and used as patches, appliqué or to make small fashion accessories. This can be developed as an entrepreneurial venture. Now, it may be termed as “Trash to Trends”.

Too many things can be developed by under-utilised textile materials like jean, corduroy and other clothings, are given below:

  • designer shoes, bathroom slippers
  • different kinds of designer bags, purse, wallets, back packs
  • designer mobile holders
  • seat covers of furniture
  • kitchen and laboratory aprons
  • jackets
  • wall hangings and many craft items
  • footmats
  • laundry bag
  • fashion accessories like hair bands, ear rings, wrist bands, belts and many more
  • other small and usable clothes for children or other family members like skirts, tunics etc.
  • table mats, coasters etc.

So, start from today only, to utilise unused or under-used textile materials. There are so many you tube tutorial videos coming from which we can see and learn making these kinds of things. Thus, by doing this we can try to lessen the dumping, hence creating hassle free surroundings.
