Bhopal will have the first e-waste clinic of the country. The facility would ensure scientific handling and disposal of electronic waste generate from households and commercial establishments. An MoU to this effect was signed between the Bhopal Municipal Corporation and CPCB. A team of officials from CPCB inspected the garbage transfer cum recovery centre at Bhanpur. Later, the CPCB team held detailed discussions with the commissioner BMC, during which they gave the details about e-waste clinic.
Director and Addtional Director, CPCB sought the help of BMC in maing people aware about e-waste and its disposal. The project has been conceived as per the Solid Waste Management Policy, 2016. Officials informed that the project would be taken up as a pilot project in Bhopal for three months and depnding on its success would subsequently be replicated across India. Presently, there are no e-waste collection centres in the state capital.
