At the beginning of the 19th century, the expeditions were carried out all over the world, leading to more and more plants being discovered, specified, sought after and collected. It was fashionable to grow plants for aesthetic and for practical reasons. This trend led to flowers of outdoor plants being kept in rooms as decoration whilst in bloom. The breeding of indoor plants developed into a great enthusiasm. Collectors were sent to the most far distant regions of the tropics to collect plants for their rich clients – the more exotic and foreign, the better. Owning and presenting exotic plants had great prestige, and there was often a great rivalry between the plant lovers. It was at this point in time that the great greenhouses evolved (Hezinger and Christe, 1996).

    • Thank you so much for appreciation. In 2016, I earned this (website/domain) as a digital prize, for best blog competition, during a training. But, I pay annually for this, to continue. This is not a blog, I think you know this!!! In blog, whatever setting is there, handled by the host website.
